Fares here are zone-based rather than metered: the calculator gives an indicative price for the route, and the exact figure is confirmed when the booking is made. A zone price does not move with traffic or the time of day — that is the practical difference from a metered taxi, or from a rideshare quote that rises with demand at peak arrival times.

Getting to downtown without a transfer

There is no direct bus between the terminal and downtown Victoria. BC Transit route 88 runs from the airport to McTavish Exchange, where route 72 continues into the city — around $6 and one to one and a half hours door to door, against roughly 30 minutes by road. The airport counts up to 28 daily departures between YYJ and McTavish, so the connection runs all day; it is two buses with luggage in each direction.

At the arrivals hall

Five on-airport rental car companies keep counters in the arrivals area, directly across from the Information Desk; off-airport operators arrange pickup in advance, across the crosswalk at the arrivals end of the terminal. If someone is collecting you by car, short-term parking is a flat $4 for a stay of up to two hours — one fee rather than an hourly rate, and two hours is the limit.
